Where to get help
If gambling has stopped being fun or you feel out of control, help is available any time. In Canada the Problem Gambling Helpline operates provincially — Ontario 1-866-531-2600, Quebec 1-800-461-0140, British Columbia 1-888-795-6111, Alberta 1-866-332-2322, Manitoba 1-800-463-1554, Saskatchewan 1-800-306-6789. The national Game Sense support line is also available 24/7. All lines are free, confidential and staffed by trained counsellors, and most offer text and online chat as well as voice calls.
Underage protection
Nobody under 18 may use this site. Parents and guardians should enable device-level content filters on any computer or phone used by a minor. If you share a household with a minor, keep account credentials private, do not use the browser's save-password feature on shared devices, and do not play in their presence. Operators are legally required to verify age before paying out any winnings; underage account closure results in forfeited balances and no refund of lost deposits.
Signs of problem
Warning signs include: thinking about gambling most of the day, chasing losses with bigger bets, borrowing money to play, hiding play from a partner, lying about how much time or money was spent, feeling restless or irritable when not playing, placing bets you cannot comfortably afford, returning to the site immediately after a self-imposed break. If two or more of these describe the last few weeks, that is a signal to pause, use the operator's deposit limit tool and talk to one of the helplines above. The signs don't always arrive in the same order, and a quiet period doesn't mean the pattern has gone away.
Parental control
On Windows and macOS the built-in family controls can restrict gambling sites. On iOS use Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → Web Content → Limit Adult Websites, and on Android use Google Family Link with SafeSearch on. Public resources Gamban and BetBlocker provide free blockers that cover thousands of gambling domains at operating-system level and can be installed on multiple devices from a single account. Blockers do not need to be reinstalled after an OS update, but should be reviewed every six months to catch newly added domains.
Limits and tools
The operator provides deposit, loss and session limits in the account settings. Lower a limit at any time; raising a limit comes with a cooling-off period before it takes effect — usually 24 hours but it can be longer depending on the licence. If you need a longer break, use the time-out (24 hours to several weeks) or self-exclusion (six months and up). A completed self-exclusion cannot be reversed before the period ends, even if you ask support to do so, and attempting to open a parallel account during a self-exclusion period is treated as a Terms violation and all winnings on that account are forfeited.
Myths about gambling
A slot does not become 'due' because it has not paid out for a while — every spin is independent and the random generator does not remember previous outcomes. A long losing streak will not be balanced by a long winning streak. A system based on doubling the bet after a loss (Martingale) runs into the table limit before it runs into a win large enough to recover the sequence. 'Hot' and 'cold' tables don't exist in the mathematical sense; what you see is the normal variance of small samples. Longer sessions do not improve the house edge, and 'the next hand will be mine' is a feeling, not a probability.
